Most often than not, a single mother's day is taken up with the taking care of her children, while at the same time, she overlooks taking care of herself. However, when a mother takes care of herself, she is also taking care of her children. A mother's desire to always put her children's needs before her own is universal.
Perhaps you have already seen this, but if you hadn't, the next time you go travelling via an airplane, take a look at the emergency booklet and you will see that it instructs parents to put on their emergency gears, before putting on their children's gears. Thus pointing out the fact that when a mother takes care of herself, she is in a better position to take care of her children.
Read Bible and Pray
This speaks for itself and if you have a personal relationship with the Lord God, resist the temptation to carry your daily challenges. Take them to Him. Read your Bible and leave the challenges with the Lord.
Read and Listen to Audio Books
Before you slip off to sleep, spend a few minutes reading a book or listening to audio books. The library is a good place to borrow them from.
Listen to Music
Music is a worldwide tool of encouragement, so take a few minutes to listen to some music.
Ride and or Walk
Ride a bicycle daily or take a long walk. You will find that these activities will not only help to keep you physically fit, but they will also help to improve your emotional state.
Take a Leisurely Bath
Most often than not, single mothers only have enough time to take a shower, therefore, a bath is usually out of the question. So, let me suggest that for at least once a week, you try to take a leisurely bath with some sweet smelling bath essentials.
Additionally, as you sit in the bathtub, resist the urge to read, write, tally the month's bills or do anything apart from sitting there and enjoying the water and its scent.
These suggestions are simple, so jump in there, begin with at least one suggestion, and as the time goes by, add another, then another and so on.
